چکیده

Hydraulic fracturing has been used as one of the stimulation techniques to economically increase oil and gas production by creating small cracks in subsurface geologic formations allow or move toward a producing well. Hydraulics plays vital role many field operations including drilling, completion, production. In case fracturing, however, hydraulics becomes important since optimized can minimize cost conversely, any miscalculations may cause problems such fluid loss potentially even lead The current methods hydraulic calculation for non-Newtonian fluids necessitate determination robust model. This paper presented new method calculating pressure losses fractures. objective this study was develop generalized model run studies validation. present work, detailed algorithm developed then programmed C++. only input program is raw rheological data, shear stress versus rate geometrical characteristics slit. Model validation with established very percentage difference between values predicted experimental data. results demonstrate that accurately predicting drop both laminar turbulent flow regimes. It shown behavior more represented using than standard models available petroleum industry. Further development be carried out data variety types.

Modeling Ithaca’s natural hydraulic fractures

Joints within the Catskill Delta complex are believed to be natural hydraulic fractures and abundant indirect evidence supports this claim. The indirect evidence is based on many observations of joint surface morphology and joint spacing among other features. The Alleghanian orogeny left a unique imprint on the joint surfaces also, indicating a rotating horizontal compressive stress field. Nume...

Investigation of the thermo-hydraulic behavior of the fluid flow over a square ribbed channel

The thermo-hydraulic behavior of the air flow over a two dimensional ribbed channel wasnumerically investigated in various rib-width ratio configurations (B/H=0.5-1.75) atdifferent Reynolds numbers, ranging from 6000 to 18000. The capability of differentturbulence models, including standard k-ε, RNG k-ε, standard k-ω, and SST k-ω, inpredicting the heat transfer rate was compared with the experi...

Behavior of a hydraulic fracture in permeable formations

The permeability and coupled behavior of pore pressure and deformations play an important role in hydraulic fracturing (HF) modeling. In this work, a poroelastic displacement discontinuity method is used to study the permeability effect on the HF development in various formation permeabilities. The numerical method is verified by the existing analytical and experimental data. Then the propagati...

Monitoring Hydraulic Fractures: State Estimation using an Extended Kalman Filter

There is considerable interest in using remote elastostatic deformations to identify the evolving geometry of underground fractures that are forced to propagate by the injection of a high pressure viscous fluid. These so-called hydraulic fractures are used to increase the permeability in oil and gas reservoirs as well as to pre-fracture ore-bodies in preparation for a mining process known as bl...

Three-dimensional Poroelastic Simulation of Hydraulic and Natural Fractures Using the Displacement Discontinuity Method

A three-dimensional fully-coupled poroelastic displacement discontinuity method is developed and used to analyze the temporal variation of opening and slip of a natural fracture in a reservoir in response to the sudden application of fluid pressure in the fracture surfaces. Numerical results show that a hydraulic fracture opens in an increasing manner with time as the rock moves towards a drain...
